Youth Move: A Better Way to Escape
WATCH* is listening! A recurring response from WATCH community events is that we need more activities for our youth. In response WATCH joined Youth Move, a national organization designed to not only keep our kids engaged, but to give them a voice in the direction of youth programs and services. The Youth Move goal is to empower our youth by giving them the skills to thrive and the ability to be their own advocates.
Since Youth Move believes in having fun while learning, we combined this month’s lessons on the perils and realities of gambling with a visit to the Fight or Flight Escape Room. Gambling and the youth counterpart, online gaming with their in-game purchases, is often-times a very expensive form of entertainment, or as our group suggested–a temporary escape from reality that most often compounds a problem rather than solving it.
After education and discussion, this group of players were treated to an escape room experience from Flight or Fight Escapes on Main Street, New Martinsville–to prove that active entertainment is always the better escape.
Thanks to Flight or Fight Escapes owners, David and Kari Dinardo for offering our kids a fabulous opportunity to have fun while working together!
