RegattaFest Fast Facts
Heart–thumping, adrenalin–pushing racing action during the tenth annual RegattaFest starts September 25 on the Ohio River in downtown New Martinsville, West Virginia. This popular fall kickoff festival, Known as fast – FREE – family fun, brings APBA sanctioned powerboat racing nationally to the mid and upper Ohio valley region. The cornerstone event, the races, feature three distinct classes: Formula 200 (F2), F3 (SST 60), and F4 or Formula Lights (SST45).
Equally popular are our land–based activities, including the Kids’ Zone with inflatables, games, and free frisbees (while supplies last), as well as the Pause for Paws area for pets with fresh water and free collapsible water bowls for the first 50 furry visitors. DJ Carman Harman, along with food and craft vendors, is always fun to hear and visit.
In addition, the Wetzel County E–911 Emergency Management mobile vaccine truck will be on hand. See them in the parking lot behind the courthouse.
The promise of exciting entertainment is guaranteed, but we have added some safe practice protocols this year. RegattaFest wants everyone to have fun but also to remain as safe as possible.
Therefore, we ask that you remember to practice social distancing, wear a mask — we will provide them free — and use the hand sanitizing stations throughout the festival grounds.
RegattaFest remains a FREE event because there is generous support from the Wetzel County Commission, the City of New Martinsville, and area business and industry.
The racing action starts at 10 am on Saturday with mandatory testing for the powerboats.
All other activities are scheduled for noon to 4 pm each day. Sunday, there is a chapel service, open to the public at 9:30 am. Testing on Sunday begins at 11 am.
Preliminary racing heats and powerboat championship finals start at approximately 1 pm each day, and the winners will receive their trophies at 4 pm on Sunday.
Grab your spot along the Ohio River shoreline in Fireman’s Park on RegattaFest Way in downtown New Martinsville over the September 25–26 weekend. Find time to enjoy all the RegattaFest has to offer.
This year, we know that the combination of championship racing for the Eastern Divisional Championships and the land activities create a formula that is guaranteed “Fast – FREE – Fun” for everyone.
