Paden City Church Dedicates Pavilion
On August 9, 2021, the Paden City Christian Church held their annual picnic and a dedication for their new pavilion. Ninety men, women and children gathered for morning services with guest speaker John Witt, a former minister and Marvin Whiteman as guest song leader. During the afternoon a carry in lunch was enjoyed and then special music by Marvin Whiteman, Elisabeth Schiffbauer, Pete Lauderman and our choir. The children enjoyed playing games provided and making crafts.
We now have a cozy new area to enjoy a fellowship dinner, a Bible school class, and outside worship services. And it all started with an electric pole, on May 20, 2020, on a rainy-day a few volunteers installed an electric pole and electrical service in the lot directly across the street from the church building.
At this point we no longer had to string an extension cord across the street for the PA system that we were using for our parking lot church services necessary because of COVID.
Once the board approved a fund drive to raise $20,000 to build a pavilion the race was on. In September and October of 2020, we received donations from members of our church and memorial donations were put in the pavilion fund.
On October 31st we had raised a total of $20,232.93 to start building our pavilion.
In January Yoder’s Roofing came to the church on a cold crisp morning and put up the pavilion. In May A-1 Concrete poured the floor. Since that time soffit has been put on the roof. Electric has been installed as well as lights and fans. We have purchased tables for the pavilion and a small building to store them in.
Even with all the donations and work that was contracted out it took a huge amount of volunteer hours from others to make this dream come true.
All this could never have been possible without the many prayers that were sent up by the members of this congregation.
