Rosenberger Sentenced to 3-15 years

Wetzel County Prosecuting Attorney, Timothy E. Haught, announces that on Thursday, September 2, 2021, Derek Wildstar Rosenberger was sentenced by Judge David W. Hummel, Jr., to confinement in the custody of the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation for a period of not less than three (3) nor more than fifteen (15) years as a result of his “GUILTY” plea to the felony offense of “CHILD NEGLECT RESULTING IN DEATH” stemming from an incident where his six-month old son died from exposure to Methamphetamine and Nicotine.

This case was investigated by the New Martinsville Police Department and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, Child Protective Services, and prosecuted by Assisting Prosecuting Attorney, Justin E. Craft.
