Kocher Named Wells Scholar
Alyssa Kocher has been named the Wells Family Scholar for 2021. The Magnolia High School Senior plans to study nursing at West Virginia University.
She received the scholarship award MHS on Class Day.
During her high school career, she was a member of the MHS Band Color Guard, ran track and field, was a cheerleader and played on the varsity volleyball team. She volunteered in Helping Hand, volunteered at Immanuel Baptist Church, was a volunteer bell ringer for the Salvation Army and also a teacher in the MHS Volleyball Clinic.
Alyssa made the Principal’s List by maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.
She was a member of the National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society and an Academic Letterman.
The MHS senior was also class secretary for all of her high school years and served as a Peer Mentor.
For three years, Alyssa worked as a lifeguard, supervisor and cashier for the New Martinsville Parks and Recreation Department. She is also a certified Microsoft Word Specialist.
Alyssa is the daughter of Tammy and the late Michael Kocher.
