The Wetzel County Commission Match Grant for Town of Hundred

The Wetzel County Commissioners met on Tuesday, May 25,2021 at the County Commission office for a regularly scheduled meeting. All commissioners were present. Commissioner President Lisa Heasley led in the Pledge of Allegiance and then called the meeting to order.

First item of business was the commission giving unanimous approval for the previous meeting minutes from the May 11, 2021 session.

Shane Pyles was present to ask commission about a possible right of way to his property located next to the 4-H grounds that borders his residency. Pyles said the excess road from his property is dangerous entering Rt. 7 because of blind spots and from having many close calls of accidents. The commission told Mr. Pyles they would investigate the situation and get back to him on a possible solution.

Hundred Town Council representative, Johanna Lemasters was present to request a donation of matching funds for the town’s sidewalk project grant. The Town of Hundred was granted $300,000 for the project and needed 80/20 match to receive the grant which is $60,000. Commission awarded the Town of Hundred the matching funds of the $60,000 by a unanimous vote.

Also given unanimous approval by the commission was the renewal of excess levy for Ambulance and Fire Services Funding.

The basic ordering agreement with GST (Global Science Technology) for website hosting was unanimously approved by the commission.

Commissioners approved by unanimous vote to hire Jeffery O’Neil at the Animal shelter as a part-time employee.
