BOE Meet in Regular Session

BOE President Price, Teachers and Superintendent Wells

The Wetzel County Board of Education met May 24, 2021 at the Board office via YouTube to approve agenda items and recognize students for special achievements. Board member Brian Castilow led in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by Board President Brian Price delivering the invocation. President Price called the meeting to order with all Board members in attendance.

The adoption of Wetzel County Schools’ budget for the 2021-2022 school year was unanimously approved by the board, as recommended by the Interim Superintendent Tammy Wells.

Special recognition was given for 4-time all-state selection Isaac Neff from Paden City High School on his accomplishments on being named to 2021 All-State Band. Isaac will be attending WVU to be a member of the Mountaineer Band and to pursue a degree in music.

Also recognized from Paden City High School was Rachel Price, a 2021 All-State Choir selection and a 3-time All-State selection. Rachel plans to pursue a music degree at a college in Tampa, Florida.

The 2021 Golden Horseshoe Winners honored were Brenna Clark, Paden City High School, Aiyana Higgins, Paden City High School, and Mackenzie Simpkins, Paden City High School.

Also recognized were the 2021 Math4Life Classroom Educator Grants for Lindsey Blake, Short Line School, Mandy Ice, Short Line School, Lindsey Snider, Short Line School, Danielle Standiford, Short Line School, and Mary Ritz, Short Line School.

Interim Superintendent Wells spoke about Magnolia High School being one of eleven schools chosen through the “Great Schools Partnership” for mastering standards based on learning and a network of schools with uniform success.
