Prodigy 5K Youngsters

The Prodigy Wellness Center located in downtown New Martinsville was the scene of the initial Diabetes 5K Dash. Alyssa Huggins organized the event for her daughter Ayla, who has Type I diabetes. The Dash was held on November 14, in downtown New Martinsville. Huggins worked tirelessly to raise funds for the Pediatric Endocrinology Department at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Her effort was motivated by her daughter Ayla’s journey with Type I diabetes.

Owner of Prodigy, Sarah Shepherd said, “we had around 200 people participate in the event with majority of the people wearing a mask. The fundraiser was a huge success thanks to the many participants, donors, and sponsors. The weather was perfect, social distancing procedures were in place, and the racers enjoyed a kid’s fun run, door prizes, and awards at the end.”
