The Esther Crumbley Fund Launches Annual Charitable Event
The Esther Crumbley Fund Board of Directors has launched its annual charitable event with the recent mailing of letters of appeal for the Christmas dinner for Wetzel County’s citizens in need.
This year, food for as many as 450 families will be given, provided the necessary donation of about $18,000 is received. Funds will be need to purchase hams, vegetables, fruit and other necessities for the holiday meal.
Distribution also will feature new books through the New Martinsville Public Library. Sign-ups for food will be directed by Lisa Gonzales of Community Resources, Inc.
A suggested donation of $40 per family or any donation, large or small is welcomed. Churches, parishioners, and other individuals, as well as the business and professional communities are asked to give generously as they have in the past.
The Esther Crumbley Fund was established in 1982 and is being operated by Community Resources, Inc. and other members of the religious and business communities. The fund’s founder, now deceased, believed it is the duty of those more fortunate to provide for the needy especially at Christmas time.
The food and other gifts will be collected and set up at Klug Hall, 21 Rosary Road, New Martinsville, on December 17, 2020 beginning at 6 p.m. Distribution will begin December 22, 2017 from 9 a.m. – Noon. Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic we will be disturb food boxes via a drive thru method so that we can keep both the receipients and volunteers safe at this time.
In addition to Lisa Gonzales – Community Resource CSS, members of the board are: Ephram Wade,Chairman, Carolyn Yoho, Co-Chairman.
Registration and sign-ups will be at the Community Resource, Inc. office located at 21 Rosary Road, Suite A, New Martinsville, WV 26155. Dates of registrations are 10/12/20 – 11/2/20 from 9a.m. – noon. Proof of household and address must be shown at time of registration.
Contributions may be mailed to Community Resources, Inc., 21 Rosary Road, Suite A, New Martinsville, WV 26155. Checks should be endorsed to Community Resources, Inc. with the memo stating Esther Crumbley Fund.
