On September 8, 2020 at approximately 8:42 p.m., the Tyler County E-911 Center received a call for a two vehicle auto accident on WV Rt. 180 near Buck Run Road. The E-911 center dispatched fire units from Middlebourne VFD, Sistersville VFD, Paden City VFD, New Martinsville VFD, and ambulance units from Middlebourne EMS and Sistersville General EMS. Deputies from the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and were assisted by a member of the WV State Police.

Upon arrival, deputies found the accident had occurred approximately 1/2 mile south of Buck Run Road and were able to identify that three vehicles had been involved in the accident.

Deputies were able to determine in the initial stages of the investigation that Austin S. Dillon (age 25) of Alma, WV, was traveling south on WV Rt. 180 in a full size Chevy truck. Chad R. Heintzman (age 45) of Sistersville, WV, was also traveling south on WV. Rt. 180 in a Dodge Charger. A northbound full size Chevy truck was operated by Daniel A. Lasure (age 52) of New Martinsville, WV. Passengers in the northbound vehicle were Tina L. Lasure (age 47) of New Martinsville, WV, Danielle A. Lasure (age 25) of New Martinsville, WV, and an infant child (age 4 1/2 months) also of New Martinsville, WV.

The initial findings from the investigation show that the Dodge Charger operated by Chad R. Heintzman traveling south on WV Rt. 180 attempted to pass the Chevy truck operated by Austin S. Dillion, which was also traveling south on WV Rt. 180. The attempted pass occurred in a no passing area for southbound traffic. The Dodge Charger operated by Chad R. Heintzman struck the Chevy truck operated by Daniel A. Lasure in the northbound lane. The Dodge Charger then struck the southbound vehicle operated by Austin S. Dillon. The Dodge Charger then continued south on WV Rt. 180 striking the guardrail on the northbound side of the roadway and then coming to a stop against the guardrail on the northbound side of the road. The northbound Chevy truck operated by Daniel A. Lasure was rolled onto its side during the collision and came to a stop against the guardrail on the northbound side of the road.

Fire and EMS crews worked to extricate the patients from the vehicles. Austin S. Dillon was not transported by EMS and reported no injuries. Tina L. Lasure, Danielle A. Lasure, and the infant child were transported by EMS to Wetzel County Hospital. Daniel A. Lasure (age 52) of New Martinsville, WV, and Chad R.
