Johnathan Yaron earns rank of Eagle Scout

Johnathan R. Yaron, son of Thomas and Lizbeth Yaron of Paden City, completed his Eagle Scout project on Nov. 19, 2019 and completed his Eagle Scout Board of Review on May 29th 2020. He is a member of B.S.A Troop 82, of Ohio River Valley Council, chartered by Glen Dale Methodist Church. His project “Air B&D”, consisted of planning and building 4 Wood Duck and 5 Eastern Blue Bird nesting boxes to be placed on Williamson Island, which is located on the Ohio River just south of Paden City. Working with a member of the Federal Fish and Wildlife Department John mapped out the island and found optimal locations on the island to place the boxes. Many can be seen from the water. This is the first stage of trying to reclaim the island from the invasive Japanese Knotweed that has taken over the island.

John Yaron started his path to Eagle as a Tiger Cub in the B.S.A Cub Scout program, as a member of Pack 153, which was chartered by Sistersville First Presbyterian Church. He earned his Arrow of Light Award as a Second Year Webelos. He has served as Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Librarian, Den Chief and now Troop Guide during his tenure in Scouting B.S.A. John is also a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, Onondaga Lodge 36.

He follows his older brother Thomas in earning Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting B.S.A. John’s future goals include continuing working with his troop and lodge by helping younger scouts reach their highest potential. He also plans on earning the William T. Hornaday award.
