On Tuesday June 16, at the New Martinsville Minitature Golf Course in Bruce Park, Bev Gibb longtime director of Parks and Recreation and several of her employees were presented a cake in honor of their service to the community in keeping the Parks and Recreation activities in good condition for all the community to enjoy.

Earl and Marsha Smith who have presented other city departments with cakes in the past few weeks, said they were especially appreciative of the Parks department, because they are the lifeblood of every community.

“Without good facilities for our youth and families, people will not want to live in our area. Bev and her crew do a tremendous job of keeping everything in good shape and always coming up with new ideas to make life better,” stated the Smiths.

They said they are proud to call New Martisville home because of the good people who work so hard and do the best they can to give the kids and families so many things to do.

Last weeks article of Earl and Marsha Smith honoring the New Martinsville Electric Company with a cake mistakenly identified the Smiths as the Yosts. We apologize for the error. The article should have read, Smiths Honor New Martinsville Electric Department.
