Patrick Durant Announces Candidacy for New Martinsville City Council
Hello, my name is Patrick Durant I am running for Council in the 6th Ward. I am married to Pamela (Briggs) Durant we have five children Rebecca (Passed away in 2005 from AML Cancer), Kenney, Jessica, Danielle & Carissa, we also have 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. I Graduated from Magnolia High School in 1976, from 1976 to 1979 was in the US Army Rank E-5 Specialist, was a Personnel Administration Specialist I have received Good Conduct Medal & Army Commendation Medal, was in the Army Reserve from 1979 to 1981 then I received an Honorable Discharge in 1981. I am a member of the American Legion Post 28. In 1979 I was hired as a Communications Officer (Dispatcher) until 1988, then I transferred to the New Martinsville Water & Sanitary Sewer as an equipment operator & laborer until 1998, then I got promoted to Maintenance Supervisor, then in 2006 I was promoted to Water & Sanitary Sewer Superintendent till present. I have 41 years of public service and I would like to continue serving the public & employees. I have been attending the City Council Meeting and Water & Sanitary Sewer Board Meeting for the last 22 years. I have worked with several Mayors and City Council Personnel. I am state certified water operator, a water distribution operator and a wastewater collection operator. I have worked with several engineers, DEP, EPA, Health Dept, Public Service Commission, Attorneys, and contractors.
I have attended several classes such as Employee Law & Regulator, State Auditor classes, Budget Preparation, PSC Rules & Regulations. I am a member of West Virginia Municipal Water Quality Association & West Virginia Rural Water Association. I have prepared Budgets for the last 22 years and have always stayed within the Budgets, and also worked on Millions of dollars projects and never had to borrow any monies for these projects for the Water & Sanitary Sewer Board, and I believe that I can be a great asset to the Citizens & employees of New Martinsville. Your vote would be greatly appreciated on June 9. 2020.
