Community Notice On Sewer Issues

By Staff | Apr 8, 2020

Pine Grove city workers remove items from their sewage system which are causing problems.

Many local cities and towns have reported sewer issues in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.

City of Sistersville Mayor Bill Rice released the following statement in regards to this issue:

“We are having major sewer issues due to people flushing items that should not be flushed. Although most wipes claim to be flushable, they cause major issues within the collection system across town. Normally we remove this amount in a months time on average. Today our sewer department has had to remove 10 times that amount since yesterday alone including hand towels. Please throw these items in the trash to help our crews maintain the collection system during the current issues we are all facing.”

Citizens in all local communities are being asked to exercise caution in what items are flushed so as to help the city.
