Rotary Students Of the Month For October 2019

Rotary Students of the Month for October, 2019 Karina Patel and Zackery Slie

Rotarian Neil Marshall introduced the students on Wednesday at the Regular Rotary meeting held at Quinets restaurant in New Martinsville.

Karina Patel is a senior at Magnolia and resides at 519 N. State Route 2, New Martinsville with her parents Bharat Patel and Sheetal Patel. She carries a 4.12 G.P.A.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society, MuAlpuha Theta, President of Relay for Life, Sources of Strength, and Student Mentor.

She also competes in Cross Country, and track and is a varsity letter winner.

She is All-Conference OVAC Academic Award, has perfect attendance 9th, 10th, and 11th grade and was on the principals list 9th, 10th and 11th grade.

Patel delivered food for Ester Crumblyh food drive, Helped clean up and set the First Christian Church for Christmas: Collected donations and sold baked goods and merchandise at various sport events for Magnolia relay for life.

She rang doorbells for Salvation Army’s Christmas Drive; Assisted with Kid’s Kollege annual Saturday school for kids held by MHS, Assisted with sources of strength thankfulness drive.

She plans to attend West Virginia University and major in Political Science.

She is eligible for the Promise Scholarship, Wetzel County Schools SAT/ ACT Academic Scholarship.

Zackery S. Slie is a senior at Magnolia and resides at 58 Pear Lane, New Martinsville, with his parents Charles Scot Slie and Julie Slie.

He carries a 4.12 G.P.A. and is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and the gaming club.

He is a member of the Magnolia Marching Band, Tech for the Fiddler on the Roof, Eagle Scout of the Boy scout troupe 128 and the order of the arrow. He has participated in the American Math Competition and a repeated All-Ovac Academic Scholar.

His community activities include Bruce Park Easter Egg Hunt, Kids Kollage, and Bruce Park Signage Replacement.

Hobbies include working on his car and learning how to code. He plans to attend West Virginia University and major in Political Science/Pre-Law and Legal Studies.

He is eligible for the Promise scholarship, ACT/SAT Practice, and SOD Level 2.
