PC Labor Day Celebration Set For Aug. 30th – Sept. 2nd
Paden City will kick off the Annual Labor Day Celebration on Friday, August 30, with games, inflatables, music and food. The event will include free entertainment, free parking and fun for all ages, wristbands will be available for puchase for the inflatables on site. Opening ceremonies begin at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, with Pete Lauderman performing on stage at 6 p.m. Back inb the Day – a great oldies band will take the stage beginning at 7 p.m.
Saturday’s entertainment begins at 12:30, with up and coming 16 year old Evan Cunningham. Vinly Soul will provide the sounds from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Local performers Half Cracked will conclude the entertainment with their concert starting at 8 p.m.
Sunday includes another big day of music with Beacon Road opening the day at 1 p.m. followed by a 2:30 gospel show from the Elsons. Beginning at 7 p.m. and ending at who knows when wilo be the ever popular Davisson Brothers Band, always a crowd favorite.
Monday, September 2, will feature an all-you-can-eat breakfast sponsored by the fire department and held at the fire hall.
The breakfast will start at 8 a.m. and end at noon. The menu includes scrambled eggs, hash browns, french toast, milk, sausage, sausage gravy, bacon, pancakes, toast, orange juice, coffee, and biscuits.
Also on September 2, the annual 5-K Fun Run will take place, with registration slated for 8 a.m. The highlight of thwe weekend, the Labor Day Parade will start at 1 p.m. on Monday, followed by entertainment at 2 p.m. from the band Remedy. At 5 p.m. DeWayne Spaw will return to the stage after performing the past several years. The music for the celebration will conclude with the much anticipated concert by Jimmy Fortune of the Statler Brothers fame. Fortune was a member of the legendary Statlers which reigned in country music for an impressive 40 plus years. Fortune spent 21 years with the group, until its retirement in 2002. During his tenure with the group, he wrote the No. 1 hits “Elizabeth,” “My Only Love,” and “Too Much On My Heart.” He also wrote the top 10 hit “Forever,” and he co-wrote “More Than a Name on the Wall,” which was a top-10 hit as well. During Fortune’s time with the group, the Statler Brothers has 22 singles on the Hot Country Songs Chart: 15 of which were Top 10 hits. The Statler Brothers were also CMA “Vocal Group of the Year” winners.
The Paden City Wildcat Boosters Car Show will be held at Paden City Park on Monday from 9-11 a.m. with Registration at the Park.
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 86 will have food all 4 days. The Paden City Volunteer Fire Co. will have a Fish Fry on Sunday and Monday along with their food trailer all four days.
The Labor Day Celebration provides free entertainment all four days, bring a lawn chair. This is a family friendly oriented event.
Country and Gospel Music Hall of Fame Member Jimmy Fortune To Perform at the Paden City Labor Day Celebration
Spend an evening with Country Music Hall of Fame and Gospel Music Hall of Fame member Jimmy Fortune as he performs a free concert at the Paden City Labor Day Celebration on Monday, September 2 at 7:30 p.m. Throughout his 21-year tenure with The Statler Brothers and current solo career, Fortune has performed in all of the U.S. States, in Canadian Provinces, and in front of audiences as large as 100,000.
Fortune is on tour in support of his latest album, God & Country, released via Gaither Music Group. God & Country was produced by Ben Isaacs of the multi-award winning family group The Isaacs. The project reflects and celebrates the beauty of America, the courage of those who have made it free, and the hymns that have warmed the hearts of its citizens for centuries. Gaither Music Group also released Fortune’s critically-acclaimed releases Hits & Hymns and Jimmy Fortune Sings The Classics.
