Lainey Brown Earns RegattaFest Queen Crown
Continuing the tradition of past regattas, and for the third year of RegattaFest, the Queen Pageant, a treasured part of the festival’s history, was held on Saturday, June 15 at the historic Lincoln Theater in downtown New Martinsville.
More than twenty-five young ladies, from ages 21 to 1, vied for the opportunity to reign over RegattaFest during the September 28 through the 29 activities. The entries came from across the state and the region; each participant anxious to represent the popular festival, and eager to help showcase what the Wetzel County area has to offer.
The day portion of the pageant focused on the youngest competitors, while the evening’s activities allowed nineteen contestants time to wow the panel of expert judges.
Playing to an enthusiastic, packed house, every young woman presented her best smile and charming personality.
The scores were close, but it was the interview portion, including random questions that created the final decisions. During the brief intermission, scoring sheets were tabulated, and the results were handed to the emcee, the current Mrs. West Virginia. The announcements for each division and the awards came in ascending order: the new RegattaFest Junior Teen is Camrie Goshert, the 2019 Teen Queen is Faith Yoho, and the RegattaFest Queen is Lainey Brown.
Mark your calendars, and don’t miss your opportunity to meet all the pageant winners during RegattaFest, September 28 through the 29, at Fireman’s Park in downtown New Martinsville on the banks of the Ohio River. It’s Fast, it’s Fun, and best of all it’s FREE.
