Wetzel County Schools Marks Spelling Bee

Pictured are achievers of Wetzel County Schools’ recent spelling bee, which was held at Paden City Elementary.

The Wetzel County Spelling Bee was held at Paden City Elementary on April 18. Representatives from all four elementary/middle schools were in attendance.

Students who made it to the county bee had to cross several hurdles before making it to the county level. Students had to place first, second, or third in their class bee to make it to the school bee. Then students had to place first, second, or third in their respective school’s spelling bee to make it to the county level.

Students in attendance from Long Drain were Julian Conaway, Ava Tuttle, and Lakota McElroy. Students from New Martinsville were Lindsay Beegle, Mallory McDiffit, and Kadyn McClure. Paden City students were Grace Green and Chloei Torres. Short Line School was represented by Madelyn Campbell and Evan Utt.

Coming in fourth was Lindsay Beegle from NMS. Third place went to Julian Conaway from LDS; second place was awarded to Ava Tuttle from LDS, and the winner of the 2019 Wetzel County Spelling Bee was Kadyn McClure from New Martinsville School. Congratulations Kadyn!
