Agencies Respond To Brush Fire

Multiple fire departments throughout Wetzel County responded to a brush fire March 14, located on Robinson Ridge.

According to Wetzel County Office of Emergency Management Director Steve Yoho, the call concerning the fire came into dispatch at around 2 p.m. Crews from Hundred, Wileyville, Pine Grove, and New Martinsville volunteer fire departments responded to the blaze and fought the fire for approximately two to three hours until it was out.

According to Yoho, the fire affected “probably 10 to 15 acres, mostly hay field.”

Hundred VFD Fire Chief Keith Williams said a cause of the blaze has yet to be determined.
