At about 9:30 p.m. on March 13, area resident Jennifer Kile’s car was stolen from the driveway of her boyfriend’s house in Procter, West Virginia. Kile said at that time her boyfriend — Harry — reported he heard a noise that sounded as if someone or something was in the driveway. It was when he went to investigate that he found that Kile’s car was missing.
Harry told officials he witnessed the car — a white 2008 Pontiac G6 — going south on Route 2 towards New Martinsville. Kile said while Harry went in pursuit of the vehicle, she reported the incident to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
Chief Deputy Bill Helm with MCSO said two deputies were in the area at the time of the incident. However, it was said that they did not witness anything, although one officer traveled to the north end of New Martinsville in search of Kile’s stolen vehicle.
According to Kile, around 7 a.m. on March 14, a friend of hers reported she had seen the car in Smithfield. In order to be sure it was Kile’s vehicle, the friend had someone follow the car and take a picture. At this point, it was said the car was parked along the road at the “S turn” in Smithfield. When a photo was sent to Kile, she was able to identify it as hers. It was then that Kile informed the police of this update.
While waiting for the police to arrive, at about 8:30 a.m., the driver reportedly sped away.
Helm explained the car’s information has been submitted into the National Crime Information Center, and the West Virginia State Police, both Tyler and Wetzel County Sheriff’s Offices, and New Martinsville Police Department have been informed about the car. According to Kile, Harrison County had also been informed about the stolen vehicle.
Kile said she is appreciative of all law enforcement officers who are aiding in the search, and to all Facebook users who have helped share information regarding the theft.
Kile’s car is a white 2008 Pontiac G6, and the license plate number is 1KM329. The front license plate says “Jenn.” According to Helm, damage can be seen on the rear bumper of the vehicle.
