Mensore Will Celebrate Birthday With ArtsLink

John J. Mensore, a familiar face to valley residents, will take the stage one last time at ArtsLink’s Coffeehouse Series concert on Thursday, Aug. 2. This will mark Mensore’s 80th birthday. ArtsLink’s Coffeehouse Series is sponsored by Wetzel County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
This free concert will be presented at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Theater in downtown New Martinsville. Mensore’s performance will feature all the popular songs you love, and light refreshments will be provided. He will be joined by Ken McBride, Dan Marrin, Ray Ebert, Ron Hoskinson, Rodney Sands, Teresa Shreve and Michelle will dance!
The son of musical parents who encouraged his talent at a very young age, Mensore began his singing career at age six. He has been a generous supporter of ArtsLink since its inception by sharing his vocal talents annually at various ArtsLink concerts. He has performed at numerous venues in recent years, including churches, Rotary Conferences, Ebert Brothers concerts, and local fairs and celebrations. He also has sung at schools, talent shows, on WTRF television, and at various nightclubs. His favorite songs are those made famous by Perry Como, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Tony Bennett. Mensore is especially proud of the “Ambassador of Music” award presented to him by former West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin in recognition of his lengthy singing career.

Bridge Construction Project Moves Forward.
A Tanker truck lost control and ran off the road along Rt. 2, near Bob Evans in New Martinsville around 8 am on Christmas Eve. Responding to the accident were first responders from New Martinsville Fire Department, Emergency Personnel, and local police agencies. The truck driver just missed a utility pole and damaged a large section of guard rail. It was reported there was some fuel spillage which was controlled at the scene. “The truck was a tanker hauling TDI but only had residue in the tank. The only leakage that I’m aware of was some diesel fuel from a Ruptured fuel filter. Fire Units did place booms across Williams run in case of more spillage. The tanker truck was the only one involved and the driver was not injured., “ said Steve Yoho, Director Wetzel County OEM/E-911 in a message sent to the Wetzel Chronicle. No injuries were reported and traffic was controlled in both directions by local officials and emergency personnel.
