Living right here in Wetzel County is a trail boss for the national television show Best of America by Horseback – Paul Fuchs. The show can be watched weekly via RFD TV. It brings viewers to some of the most beautiful places in America. Viewers are even invited to ride with Best of America by Horseback at the locations listed on the website www.bestofamericabyhorseback.com. Those who choose to participate, would be sure to see Fuchs as he and his wife are an intricate part of the Best of America Family.

Fuchs is a longtime member of the Best of America by Horseback Family. He has been on many television episodes including being featured in the historic Knight of the Golden Horseshoe Ride, the historic colonial recreation of the Jack Jouett ride. Fuchs has entertained many people as they are captivated by his beloved mules pulling stagecoaches and wagons.

Fuchs is assistant Trail Master and Guide on most Best of America by Horseback Rides. He has been trail boss since last fall. Part of his responsibilities include arriving one to two days early to ride and make sure the trails are safe for everyone. He leads the ride and picks the spots for the cameras to be set up for the filming. During the ride, Fuchs feels that it’s his job to take care of everyone if there are any problems. He has been riding since 2007.

Each ride is different, including the number of people that go on the rides. Normally there is an average of around 25 people for each ride with people from all over the United States participating in the rides. Anyone who is interested can call the office and sign up to go until the rides are full. Fuchs and his wife have made several acquaintances and friendships with people on the rides.

Fuchs said a lot of people seem surprised when they ask him where he’s from and he tells them West Virginia. He said people act like people from W.Va. are not supposed to get out of the state! Fuchs and his wife try to prove the stereotypes wrong though. Fuchs said he and his wife are sure to take care of their belongings, including their well-kept mules. Fuchs also noted his wife is a very likeable, pretty woman, who is a good representation of the Mountain State.

Anyone who would like to participate in the rides can go to the website to find out more. Older episodes of the show may also be watched through the website.
