City Holds Special Levy Meeting
The City of New Martinsville held a special council meeting on April 17, at 3 p.m. in the large conference room. On the Agenda was the recommendation to lay the Levy for the fiscal year of 2018-2019. The council, absent Katherine Goddard, passed the Levy unanimously on a motion by Joel Potts and a second by Holly Grandstaff.
Council also approved the terms of the engagement of Deliotte LLE by Brouse McDowell LLP to provide litigation support services to the City of New Martinsville for legal matters with an Insurance company, concerning the failure of unit one of the Hydro Power Plant.
Council also unanimously approved the first reading of an ordinance for new electric rate tariffs. Interested persons may appear before Council on May 7, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. to state or present any protests to the ordinance.
A meeting to discuss issues at the Hydro power plant was also held on April 17, immediately following the special council meeting. After a brief discussion, a motion was made to enter into executive session for the purpose of discussing contract issues.
Following the executive session it was announced another meeting would be scheduled and held when city attorney Carolyn Flannery could be present. Meeting was adjourned.
