Judge Cramer Holds Wetzel Court
Judge Jeffrey Cramer recently heard several matters in Wetzel County Circuit Court.
Ashley Brooke Wilhoite, 37, of 133 South First Avenue, Paden City, W.Va., was previously charged by the Wetzel County Grand Jury with three felony offenses, alleged to have occurred between July 24, and July 31, 2017 in Wetzel County. Wilhoite recently appeared in court for a pre-trial hearing. At the hearing Wilhoite, who was scheduled for trial on the charges for April 9, waived the term of court and her right to a speedy trial.
She was remanded back to the Northern Regional Jail and ordered to return to court on May 24 for the next term of court docket day.
Leslie Wayne Rial, 68, of 20 Union Street, New Martinsville, W.Va., was previously charged in a one count felony indictment by the Wetzel County Grand Jury – Retaliation against a Public Official. Rial had his case continued generally and will be scheduled to appear at another date and time.
Joshua Elijah Toothman, 32, of 714 North Fourth Avenue, Paden City, W.Va., pleaded guilty before the Honorable Judge Jeffery D. Cramer, by way of a plea agreement, to the felony offense of Retaliation of a witness. The remaining charges against him were dismissed per the plea agreement, and he was sentenced to 1-3 years in the Division of Corrections and given credit for time served.
Clarence Franklin Thayer, 35, of 917 Ashcamp Run Road, Metz, W.Va., was previously charged by the Wetzel County Grand Jury in a four-count felony indictment, charging him with failure to register as a sex offender. He entered a plea of guilty to one count of the indictment. He was sentenced to 1-5 years in prison and will be eligible for a rule 35 early release hearing after serving 120 days. If released he will be placed on four years supervised probation and will have to continue to register as a sex offender for life.
Charles Roberts, 57, of 292 Bear Run Road, Littleton, W.Va., appeared in court on April 17 before Judge Cramer for a sentencing hearing. Roberts previously pleaded guilty to failure to update sex offender registry information. He was sentenced by Judge Cramer to 1-5 years in prison, with credit for time served.
Ethan Tyler Blizzard, 21, of New Martinsville had his case rescheduled for May 11, at 1p.m. Blizzard was scheduled for a hearing on the charges of a probation violation. He was remanded to jail and ordered to return on the above date.
Daniel Lee Wilson, 32, of Route 1 Box 71, Mannington, W.Va., entered a plea of guilty before Judge Cramer to the charge of Grand Larceny, having occurred on September 6, 2017 in Wetzel County. Judge Cramer ordered a pre-sentencing investigative report to be done on Wilson by the probation office.
Franklin Dale Welch, 28, of 46590 East Captina Highway, Alledonia, Ohio, appeared in court for an arraignment hearing on charges from the January term of the Grand Jury of Wetzel County. He is charged with Nighttime Burglary. He waived his right to a speedy trial and was ordered to report back to court on May 24. His bond was reinstated with supervision by the probation office.
Jason Work, of New Martinsville, appeared in court to face charges from an indictment in 2015. He waived this term of court and was ordered to return to court on docket day, May 24. Judge Cramer ordered him to be placed on supervised bond.
