The Wetzel County Sheriff’s Office has had a busy couple of days as law enforcement officers apprehended two fugitives from justice, along with another gentleman who has been accused of receiving stolen property.

Clark Floyd III and Alisha Floyd have been arrested on felony fugitive from justice charges from Monroe County, Ohio. Meanwhile, Robert Michael Rowe was arrested for receiving and transferring stolen property.

According to Wetzel County Sheriff Mike Koontz, Corporal Roger Spragg received information Feb. 13 from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The information regarded two fugitives, along with some drug activity, that could be located in the Smithfield area of Wetzel County.

Sheriff Koontz said that, through the information, Corporal Spragg was able to obtain and execute search warrant at a particular residence in Smithfield.

The Wetzel County Sheriff’s Office, along with a member of the West Virginia State Police, were able to execute the search warrant. As a result, three individuals were arrested, and approximately 17 grams of methamphetamine, with a street value of more than $2,000, was seized.

“There are other drug arrest and charges pending as a result of this investigation,” Koontz said.

Koontz said the investigation has also resulted in information and possible charges as to an investigation in the Smithfield area, of a breaking and entering and thefts of trucks and ATVs at an Ascent Resources location. Koontz said these thefts have occurred in the last two weeks.

“These arrests are a good example of cooperation between agencies and even states, in the battle against drugs,” Sheriff Koontz noted.
