River High School art students recently took part in the Marietta Times newspaper’s 14th Annual Calendar Contest.

This year’s theme was “Aquatic.” The newspaper received entries from high schools in its six-county service area. Receiving honorable mentions from RHS are: Livi Rose, junior, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Casey Rose of Clarington; Candace Caldwell, junior, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rob Caldwell of Powhatan Point; Morgan Andersen, junior, daughter of Michelle Elliott and Chris Andersen of Sardis. Lauren Flannery’s painting “Sea Turtle” is featured for the month of January.

This is the second year Flannery’s artwork has been published in the calendar. Flannery is a junior and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Flannery of Hannibal. The calendar is a promotion of the Marietta Times’ “Newspapers in Education (NIE)” program.
