The Paden City Flag Committee has set the dates of the week of April 16, 2018 (weather permitting) through November 13, 2018 as the dates for displaying the flags on Route 2 and Main Street. This committee, which was established by Eileen Smittle and Gladys Kincaid, consists of Sue Adcock, Josh Billiter, Jimmie Culp and Rod Fagert. The flags are purchased with donations of $25 or more in memory of a loved one who has passed away. A certificate and letter is sent to the designated next of kin. WesBanco in Paden City accepts these contributions. Donations are also accepted in honor of a loved one, or just because a donor loves his/her city, state, and country and wants it known that he or she is proud of the flag. The flag committee encourages folks to keep the flags flying as a reminder “of our wonderful country and in appreciation of those who died protecting it.”

The committee also wants to thank the city employees who ensure the flags are flying and are replaced when they become tattered and torn from the weather.

One hundred American made flags were recently purchased at Walmart in New Martinsville. Walmart makes a generous contribution toward this purchase each year.
