Police Searching For Breaking and Entering Suspect

By Staff | Dec 11, 2017

Police are looking for Larry Paul Cork.

New Martinsville Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Larry Paul Cork.

Cork is a “person of interest” in seven recent breaking and entering investigations throughout the New Martinsville area, including the Wednesday night (Dec. 6) breaking and entering of three New Martinsville churches. Cork has been specifically charged with the break-in of New Martinsville’s St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Furthermore, police said Cork was free on bond for a domestic charge when he allegedly committed burglary on the home of his previous domestic victim.

As for the Wednesday night breaking and entering at local churches, NMPD Chief Tim Cecil previously reported that St. Vincent De Paul Church, New Martinsville United Methodist Church, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church each suffered damages, including stolen money. The offenses occurred around 10 p.m., Dec. 6.

The chief confirmed that the churches’ Christmas gifts, for area needy children, were unwrapped, though he is unsure as to whether any of the gifts were stolen, as the churches are still assessing damages.

Chief Cecil said one of the church’s stained glass windows was busted.

Chief Cecil, Captain Steve Kastigar, along with Officers Courtney South and Adam Skinner, all responded to the church break-ins.

Police are actively searching for Cork and welcome any and all tips. Those with information on his whereabouts are urged to call 304-455-9100.
