Police Investigate Hydro Attack
New Martinsville Police Chief Tim Cecil confirmed that law enforcement is investigating the Nov. 11 Saturday afternoon attack of an 80-year-old woman near Hydro Drive in New Martinsville.
The Chronicle spoke to an immediate relative of the victim. This individual wished to remain anonymous so that the identity of the victim not be inadvertently released. However, the individual clarified the description of the suspect and the details of the attack.
The individual said that the 80-year-old woman was walking the bike path near Hydro Drive in New Martinsville when a young man allegedly grabbed her and made a sexual remark.
The man then pushed and shook the woman, and further pushed her over the hillside. He then took off on foot, heading toward the locks and dam area.
The woman was then taken to the hospital for examination and treatment of multiple injuries.
The suspect is described as being a young man between 14 and 17-years-old. He is approximately 5’7″ and “skinny” in stature. He is described as having black hair, brown eyes, and he was wearing a blue and gold jacket.
The attack occurred approximately between 11:30 a.m. and noon on Saturday.
