Autumn Festival Set For Oct. 13-15

By Staff | Oct 11, 2017

Plans are well underway for the Wetzel County Autumn Festival, to be held Oct. 13-15 at the Wetzel County 4-H grounds.

Camping is available at $15 a night, and there are plenty of reasons to stick around for every minute of the festival.

Activities and entertainment include chainsaw carvings, apple butter making, live radio, music, food, crafters and vendors, horse and wagon, the Bubble Man, and games such as euchre, horseshoe, cinch and corn hole.

Music – including bluegrass and country – will be played several of the afternoons and evenings.

Activities will begin to pick up around 10 a.m. Friday when vendors and campers begin setup.

A highlight of this year’s event will be all of the tasty and scrumptious food fixings available. Food will include BBQ ribs and pulled pork, cheesy potatoes and cole slaw, beans, and more. Dinners will be served at the Mollohan center and on the 4-H grounds. There will be a huge bake sale, along with chicken and noodles for sale. Other eats include soup beans and corn bread, funnel cakes, pizza, french fries, Coleman’s fish sandwiches, nachos and cheese and sno-cones. The local FFAs will be selling hot dogs and hamburgers.

Those who are looking for that extra-special pumpkin will need to look no further, as pumpkins and produce will be for sale in the parking lot area, along with mums.

Autumn Festival organizers are still looking for hit-and-miss engines, along with a person who will grind cornmeal. Those interested in either activity can call Tammy Forrester at 304-771-2372.
