MHS to Crown Queen

Friday will be an evening for beauty and grace as five young ladies vie for the title of Magnolia High School’s homecoming queen. The queen will be crowned Friday, Sept. 29 when the Blue Eagles take on Monroe Central for Friday night football action.

The five senior girls vying for the title of queen are Lexie Kernan, Mackenzie Wade, Emily Rine, Alavia Anderson, and Alex Berger.

Kernan is the daughter of Shawn Kernan and Christy Vogel. Lexie is the president of the National Honor Society, vice president of Mu Alpha Theta, class treasurer, and a member of the Science National Honor Society. Lexie’s future plans include going to college and studying psychology and criminology.

Lexie will be scorted by Jarrett Moore, the son of Chris Moore and George Moore of New Martinsville. Jarrett is a double business completer and a varsity basketball player. Jarrett hopes to attend West Liberty to study marketing.

The duo will be cruising Maple Avenue Friday night in a Chevrolet Corvette, owned by Butch Jackson and driven by Mr. Ross of Wetzel County Schools.

Mackenzie Wade is the daughter of Tabatha Day and Jeff Wright, and Jared Wade. Mackenzie is a member of FBLA, participates in peer tutoring, and is a business completer. Mackenzie hopes to attend West Virginia University.

Mackenzie will be escorted by Bayly Cecil, son of Brad and Melinda Cecil. Bayly is involved in FBLA and peer tutoring and wishes to attend WVU in the future.

Mackenzie will be driven by Drew Schmalz in Randy Billiter’s 94 Ford Mustang.

Emily Rine is the daughter of Myra Rine and Jennings Goldsmith. Emily is co-president of the National Honors Society, proud member of Relay for Life, and president of the Thespian Troupe. Emily hopes to attend WVU and study International relations.

Emily will be escorted by Kyler Cecil, the son of Mandy Smith and Steven Cecil. Kyler is a member of the soccer team and wrestling team. Kyler also plans to attend WVU.

Emily will be driven by Mrs. Hinerman in Philip McKay’s Chrysler 200s.

Alavia Andreson is the daughter of Danny and Anissa Anderson. She is co-president of Mu Alpha Theta, vice president of National Honor Society, and is varsity captain of the volleyball and cheerleading teams. Alavia plans on attending West Liberty University to major in biology and pre-medicine.

Alavia will be escorted by Michael Estep, son of Edward and Joan Estep. Michael is captain on the soccer team and treasurer of Mu Alpha Theta. Michael plans on attending WVU where he will major in engineering.

Alavia will be transported in a 2009 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Keith Riggle and owned by Shane Mason.

Alex Berger is the daughter of Kim Whiteman and Rick Berger. Alex is the soccer captain, proud member of FBLA, member of Magnolia High School Thespian Troupe #531, and serves in the ping pong club.

Alex hopes to attend WVU.

She will be escorted by Jack Booth, son of Lisa and Charles Booth. Jack is a double business completer and captain of the soccer team, who hopes to attend WVU.

Alex will be driven by Dan Henthorn in a Chrysler 200, owned by Paul Feldmeier.

Class representatives, serving on the homecoming court, include Bethany Brown, 11th grade; Kayna Anderson, 10th grade; and Dylan Davis, ninth grade.

Bethany is the daughter of Lori Brown. She is a two-year varsity tennis letterman and academic letter recipient. She is on the student advisory committee and serves on the All-Conference academic team.

Bethany will be escorted by Ethan Herrick, son of Tabitha and Robert Herrick. He is a two-year soccer letterman and a two-year track state tournament qualifier.

Bethany will be driven by Michael Harwick in a Pontiac G6, owned by Cami Williamson.

Kayna Anderson is the daughter of Danny and Anissa Anderson. Kayna is a member of the volleyball, cheer, and softball teams. She is vice president of the sophomore class.

Kayna will be escorted by Jarod Durig, son of Debbie and Wesley Durig.

Jacob plays basketball and is a member of Magnolia’s Land Judging state champion team.

Kayna will be driven by Kayla Adams in a VW Bettle, owned by Brian Croasmun.

Dylan Davis is the daughter of Jason and Courtney Pyles, and Eliot and Janice Davis. Dylan participates in softball, babysitting, and anything with music (singing and dancing). Dylan hopes to attend West Liberty University to study teaching. Dylan will be escorted by Chase Glover, son of Darren and Tina Glover.

Chase participates in basketball and hunting and hopes to eventually attend a four-year college, preferably WVU.

Chase will be driven by Keith Herrick.
