Law firm Gold, Khourey and Turak has helped to lessen the burdens on Hundred Volunteer Fire Department, left by the July 28-July 29 flooding.
Christopher Turak, of GKT, visited the Town of Hundred on Thursday, Aug. 24 and presented fire department personnel with a donation in the amount of $500. Hundred VFD President Johanna Lemasters was on hand to graciously accept the donation, along with Wetzel County Assessor Scott Lemley, who is also a Hundred resident.
Wetzel County Commissioner Lisa Heasley was also in attendance for the donation.
Hundred VFD has made much headway since the devastating floods last month. Lemasters gave those, in attendance Thursday, a tour of the fire department and gave an update on progress made since the flood. New flooring and drywall are being installed, but the department still has a “long way to go.” The department is also working on getting another ambulance.
It was noted that some of what was lost in the flood was covered by insurance, though not all was.
