Local Shelter Implements Spay/Neuter Rock Program

By Staff | Aug 16, 2017

The Wetzel County Animal Shelter Supporters, Inc. (WCASS, Inc) is promoting alteration of cats by providing a Cat Spay/Neuter “Hide a Rock” program in Wetzel County.

Rosy Cozart, President of the group, explains that the influx of cats needing placement, and the popularity of rock hunting in the area, prompted the promotion. Rosy explains the program ,” First we would like to thank Volunteer, Sharon Howell, for her artistry in painting the 5 rocks, which read “free spay/neuter for a cat.”

“We will pick a different area of the county to hide our 5 painted rocks until all the rocks are used at participating vets. When all rocks have been presented and used, we will move to another area of Wetzel County and hide the rocks. You can follow the areas the rocks are in, on our facebook page (possibly even finding hints on our facebook page). We will begin with New Martinsville on August 17. As of now, Dr. White, Dr. Meckley, and Dr. Urbanek are the vets accepting the rock vouchers. If any other vets would like to participate in this program to make it more feasible for the clients, we will be glad to add them. We wish you happy rock hunting and may the odds ever be in your favor!””
