100 Meals Delivered to Hundred Flood Relief Efforts
Gold, Khourey & Turak and Perkins Restaurant & Bakery in Moundsville teamed to provide 100 hot meals, chips, and bottled water to residents, volunteers, and first responders in the Littleton and Hundred areas of Wetzel County. These were some of the hardest hit areas in the Ohio Valley by the recent flash flooding.
“They have lost homes, businesses, and vehicles, which then results in other challenges for them and their families,” explains Teena Miller of Gold, Khourey & Turak. “They are extremely resilient and are working tirelessly to clean up their homes and businesses, but they need more help.” Miller personally delivered 100 hot meals to the area, stopping at houses along the road and providing a meal to anyone in need, compliments of GKT and Perkins Restaurant in Moundsville. Mark West is the Catering Director at Perkins, “We wanted to do what we could to help our neighbors in Wetzel County.” Perkins in Moundsville has also provided free meals to members of the National Guard who have been helping residents in Marshall County. Undo’s in Benwood has provided meals to the relief efforts in Benwood and McMechen, and Perkins Restaurant in Wheeling has provided meals in Ohio County.
The cleanup in those areas and throughout the Ohio Valley will continue for some time. GKT provided cleaning supplies to McMechen in Marshall County earlier in the week. Miller asks, “Donate your time, money, pray, or find some way to help. Whether it’s for the people in Wheeling, McMechen Hundred, or elsewhere, the flash floods have impacted us all in one way or another.”
