Wetzel County Prays

Photos by Ed Parsons Area residents gather to pray at a National Day of Prayer event, held at Wetzel County Courthouse on May 4.

Approximately 75 people gathered in front of the Wetzel County Courthouse Thursday evening for the National Day of Prayer. The service included led prayers for the seven areas of power named by the national committee. Those who led the prayers locally were: David Benson, City of New Martinsville employee, government; Stephanie Fritzman, youth pastor at the First Church of God, churches; Bruce Taylor, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church and retired Navy, military; Dr. Ibanga Ekanem, pediatrician, family; Young Life Area Director Will Sherrill, Magnolia High School, and Isaiah Frye, New Martinsville School, education; Ed Parsons, Tyler Star News reporter; media; and Sandy Hunt, S & S Jewelry and Wetzel County Convention and Visitors Bureau, business. Also, Telina Frye of the New Martinsville Church of God provided music.

A prayer breakfast at the First Baptist Church that morning was also well attended and included prayers for those same seven areas of power.
