Feast Your Eyes On The Prize, Chili Fest

New Martinsville Church of God won the prize for best table at Wetzel County Chamber of Commerce's annual Chili Fest.

NEW MARTINSVILLE Thousands of people attended the 17th annual Wetzel County Chamber of Commerce’s 17th Annual Chili Fest on Saturday in New Martinsville.

William Cleavenger, 34, of Pittsburgh won the hot pepper eating contest by eating 8 peppers.

“I ate them two at time, drank some milk that was pretty much my strategy,” he said.

And let’s not forget the chili champs there were a lot of them.

Magnolia senior Trenton Robinson (18:38.4) and Middlebourne resident Katie Snider (23:11) were the top male and female finishers in the 5k.

Chili contest business winners: 1st place EZ Care, 2nd place Tastee Freez; 3rd place Supply Closet.

Non-profit: 1st place New Martinsville Band Patrons; 2nd place Tri-County Young Life; 3rd place Amanda Jo Ice Memorial School Fund.

Individual winners: 1st James Grant, 2nd Linda Goddard, 3rd Jackie Garuccio.

Taste off: Wetzel County CVB
