Hundred High School Hornets To Crown King and Queen

The Hundred High School Hornets will crown their homecoming King and Queen on Oct. 28 during the half-time ceremony of the Hundred Hornet vs. Montcalm Generals football game. Prior to the game will be the annual homecoming parade which begins at 6 p.m.

The first candidates are Miss Hailey Elizabeth Eastham and Mr. Bill Mace. Hailey is the daughter of Nick and Shannon Eastham. She has been a member of the Lady Hornet basketball team for 3 years and is a member of the National Honor Society. She currently holds the office of Vice-President of the FFA, President of the TSA and Vice-President of the Class of 2017.

Bill is the son of Michael Mace and Staci Ice. He participates actively in Basketball, Baseball, Football, FFA and TSA. He would like to become a welder apprentice and eventually become a full time welder.

The second candidates are Miss Miranda Gray and Mr. Charles Matthews. Miranda is the daughter of Dave and Gina Gray. She has been a member of the volleyball, track and softball teams and FFA. She currently holds the office of National Honor Society President. Miranda plans on attending Marshall University or North Carolina State and majoring in chemical engineering and pathology.

Charles has played football and basketball for the Hornets and is an active FFA member. He is also a member of the YoungLife club that meets at HHS. He plans on becoming a heavy equipment operator in the future.

The third candidates are Miss Macy Long and Mr. Tyler Norris. Macy is the daughter of Michael and Jeannie Long. She has been a member of the Hornet cheerleading squad, Lady Hornet Basketball team and softball teams for 3 years. She is also an active member of the TSA Organization. Macy plans to move to Jacksonville, NC and become a Forsenic Nurse and hopes to return to this area and work as a criminal liaison.

Tyler is the son of Gerard and April Norris. He is a member of the Hornet football, basketball and track teams. He is an actively involved member of the YoungLife club that meets at HHS. He says one of his favorite things about high school was making lifelong friends. Tyler plans on attending Fairmont State University and studying criminal justice with his long term goal of becoming a DEA Agent in Virginia.

The fourth candidates are Miss Valerie Soles and Mr. Justin Pletcher. Valerie has been a member of the Lady Hornets Basketball and Volleyball teams throughout high school and a member of the National Honor Society. She is an active member and officer in both the FFA and TSA chapters of Hundred High School. Valerie plans to attend Fairmont State University and major in nursing.

Justin is the son of Greg and Terri Pletcher. He has played on the Hornet football team and baseball teams. He is in the welding and mining completer program at HHS. Justin?s immediate plans after graduation include working on the railroad to begin saving money before attending a technical school and getting a welding and electrical engineering certification.

The final candidates are Miss Rachel Watson and Mr. Richard Yocum. Rachel is the daughter of Brian and Anna Watson. She has been a member of the Lady Hornet Basketball team and track teams as well as being a member of the National Honor Society. She is a member of the HHS choir as well as the concert and marching band. She is currently the field commander of the band and has been selected for several honor bands over her years in high school. Rachel attended the Governor’s Honor Academy during this past summer. Rachel plans to attend WVU with a major in Biology. Her long term goal is to attend Medical school and become an Ophthalmologist.

Richard is the son of Greg and Terri Pletcher. Richard is a member of the Hornet Football and baseball teams. He is also an active member of the TSA chapter of HHS. He is a junior firefighter and EMT for the Hundred VFD and states he has made a lot of lifelong friends while attending HHS. Richard plans to move to a big city and become a paid firefighter and EMT after graduation.

Along with the senior members the court includes Freshmen: Madison Fetty and Cody Soles, Sophomore: Victoria Hawkins and Haden Dulaney, and Juniors: Macy Lemasters and Alex Derby.
