Pedal Power Event Set for Sunday
The second annual Pedal Power Poker Run will be held Sunday, Sept. 18 at Bruce Park.
The non-timed event will begin at 2 p.m. with registration at 1 p.m.
The event is a non-endurance competition and is judged solely on who has the best poker hand. Cards are collected at five different stations throughout the route, which can be walked, ran, or biked. The route begins and ends at Bruce Park. Once the participant returns to Bruce Park, his or her cards will be put in order. Whoever has the best hand in his or her age group will win a medal.
The following are the age groups for the race: five and under, 6-10, 11-15, 16-50, and 51 and over.
Entry fee is $5 per participant, or $20 per family (member must reside in same household).
Proceeds from the event benefit the Festival of Trees, which will be held in November. The Festival of Trees benefits charities The Gabriel Project, Olive Branch Animal Rescue and Refuge, and The Lighthouse Child Advocacy Center.
Events will be held at Bruce Park after the poker run, including various games offered by the Olive Branch Animal Rescue. For additional information on the Pedal Power Poker Run, be sure to call the Chamber at 304-455-3825.
