By Staff | Aug 17, 2016

The hills will be alive with praise and worship Saturday, Aug. 20 as the seventh annual Valley Praise Fest is held in Reader, W.Va. The free musical festival will be held 1-9 p.m. at the Faith Fellowship Praise and Worship Center, located at the foot of 8 Mile Ridge in Reader.

Headlining the event will be The Carriers. Other acts will include Sackcloth, Joyful Noise, Rachel Beck, Mark and Cindy Maynard, 2 Be Determined, and The Smith Family.

The Carriers is made up of Pastor David Kelly, his wife Jan, daughter Kristi Hatfield, and Denver Adams. The group has been singing at Valley Praise Fest since around 2011. The group is dedicated to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the ministry of song.

The Carriers began singing in 1969, Kelly being one of the founding members. Kelly describes his influences including the Oak Ridge Boys.

The Carriers, popular throughout the tri-state area, will take the stage at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday.

The Maynard duo – Mark and Cindy Maynard – have been singing together since they were married in 1974. They have performed all over the country at churches, benefits, and music festivals. The Maynards each began singing at an early age.

Other entertainment for Saturday’s event will include games, water slides, face painting, food, drinks, and cotton candy. Bring a lawn chair, and join the fun!
