Former New Martinsville Mayor Keith Nelsen swore in the city’s council members, both incumbents and newly elected officials, on Wednesday, June 29. Incumbent Iris Isaacs resumed her position as council member for Ward 6, while Jeremy Shepherd resumed his position as council member for the first ward. Steven Bohrer, elected to mayor in May, was sworn in to his position, while Joel Potts took his seat for fifth ward.

A resolution supporting the expansion of Route 2/Interstate 68 was passed by council. Also, $1,250 will be donated to help with the New Martinsville Hydro project. This will be a cleaning project and will help with flow and circulation.
