Relay for Life Event Begins Friday

By Staff | Jun 15, 2016

Opening ceremonies for The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Wetzel County will begin 6 p.m., June 17 at Magnolia High School’s track.

Teams have been working all year long by staging various events and fund raisers to help collect money to find a cure for cancer and support those who are battling the disease. Schools in the county have also held individual relay events to support the cause.

The fund raising doesn’t stop when the relay begins. Many groups continue their fund raising at the event by selling items and food, conducting games, and taking donations. There are also organized fund raisers such as the cake walk, purse auction, and Mr. Relay contest.

While many people are already on a team and registered, individuals are certainly welcome to just show up at the event and join the cause.
