Board Continues Search

By Staff | Jun 8, 2016

At the Monday, June 6 meeting of the Wetzel County Board of Education, Board President Mike Blair stated that the board has approximately 10 applicants for the position of Wetzel County superintendent. He said one or two applicants have dropped out.

Blair was asked by Wetzel County Education Association Co-President Elliot Kendle if the interviews would be open.

Blair said he thought they would be open.

The search for a new superintendent comes after the board of education voted on Thursday, May 26 to buy out the remaining year on Superintendent Leatha Williams’ contract.

In a public statement on Friday, May 27, Blair reported that Williams agreed to resign at the end of the current school year.

Her last day on the job will be June 30.
