BOE Votes To Buyout Contract Of Williams

By Staff | May 26, 2016

At a special meeting of the Wetzel County Board of Education, the board voted to buyout the contract of Superintendent Leatha Williams.

This decision was made after an executive session was held, that lasted a bit over an hour.

Williams’ employment will last through June 30, and the buyout amount was approximately $143,000.

Board Member Carolyn Gatian was the only board member who voted against the measure.

Board President Mike Blair stated that once Williams signs the buyout agreement, a position for an Interim Superintendent will be posted Tuesday, May 31.

Wetzel County Education Association Co-President Joshua Weekley stated that the action taken by the board was “a very positive, hopeful move.”
