River High School Class of 2016 Set to Graduate on Saturday
The River High School Class of 2016 will hold its graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 28, 2 p.m. on Flannery Field. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in the R. L. Potts Gymnasium.
This year’s Valedictorian is Tyler Alleman, who is graduating with a 4.41 GPA. He is the son of Rick and Traci Alleman of Sardis. Tyler is president of the National Honor Society, a Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Ambassador, Buckeye Boys State Delegate, Americanism Post and County winner, four-year Kiwanis Scholar, Franklin B. Walter Scholar, Junior and Senior Class president, member of the JETS team, student council, and Ohio Stock Market Challenge team, as well as the Civics Challenge, Quiz Bowl, and InQuizitive Competition Champion teams. Tyler is a member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ where he preaches among several other congregations. Tyler is attending Harding University in Searcy, AR where he plans to dual major in Mechanical Engineering and Leadership in Ministry.
River High School Salutatorian is Ben Riley, the son of Kevin and Molla Riley of Powhatan Point, Ohio. Ben has a GPA of 4.4 and has been on the Principal’s List every nine weeks in his high school career. He is a Regional Scholar, four-year Kiwanis Scholar, a Hugh O-Brian Ambassador, Vice President of the National Honor Society, Buckeye Boys State, Academic Achiever, two-year Region 5 BPA first place Banking and Finance, placed in state with an Economic Research Team, Civics Challenge and Quiz Bowl Champion Teams, JETS, Student of the Month, and three-year Vice President of Class. Ben is a letterman in Basketball, Baseball, Track and Golf. He is a PVC and OVAC Scholar, and received Honorable Mention Eastern District Division III Golf. Ben is a member of Spanish IV Club, Student Council, Homecoming Court and the First Presbyterian Church of Powhatan Point. Ben has been accepted to The Ohio State University with direct admission to the Fisher College of Business in the fall to major in Finance and Accounting.
The Vocational Valedictorian is Emily Gauding, the daughter of Michael and Shanelle Gauding of Cameron, OH. During her two years at Swiss Hills Career Center Emily studied Business Administration and Management. After graduation, Emily plans on working part time while furthering her education.
Graduating as Honor Students in the Class of 2016 are Caleb Indermuhle, Zach Dennis, Blaze Amos, and Brandon Carpenter.
