40 Attend Annual Walk
Despite the chilly temperature and cutting wind on Sunday, May 15, about 40 local citizens came out for this year’s Walk for Life, sponsored by Wetzel-Tyler County Right to Life.
After the walk, a rally was held at Bruce Park. Wetzel-Tyler Right To Life Co-President Elizabeth Thomas introduced speaker Brandi Winfrey, and her husband Sean, who told of their adoption of an 11th child and the blessing and gift that each child is from God.
Sean stated that often fathers are very concerned with the financial aspects of child rearing, but that he has never put a price tag on any of his children, as they are a gift.
Music was provided by Chelsea Smith, who wrote some of the songs that she sang.
“A little over $2000 was collected at the walk and rally,? noted Co-President Diane Strippel.
Strippel stated that the funds will go to two pregnancy centers, one being Charleston’s Woman’s Choice, which the group has supported for several years.
Funds will also go to a new center in the area – Wellspring Pregnancy Center in Moundsville.”
Wellspring serves the Ohio Valley with offices in Moundsville and Cadiz, Ohio; their 24-hour helpline is toll free at 877-942-9735.
Thomas and Strippel recently toured the Moundsville facility and found it to be warm and welcoming, providing material assistance, free confidential pregnancy tests, and staffed by caring volunteers. Emotional support and help are specific to individual needs of the clients.
“We were very impressed with the love we felt there and the organization displayed in everything they do. I will be volunteering there myself,” said Thomas.
“Thanks to all who came and donated to this cause; look for our pro-life booths at Town and Country Days and the Tyler County Fair this August”, said Strippel.
