MHS Girls Track Capture State Championship
The Magnolia Blue Eagles’ girls track team will come back to Wetzel County state champions after accumulating the most points at the West Virginia High School State Track Meet. The Blue Eagles accumulated a total of 70 points in the Class A championship, while Charleston Catholic came in second with 68 points.
The Blue Eagles’ girls track team had impressive finishes in several events. The girls’ 4×800 meter relay team, made up of Breanna Barbera, Rachel Arbogast, Jordan Delaney, and Bri Ritz, finished second with a time of 10:16.05, while junior Bailey Estep finished second in the long jump with a jump of 16-08.
Jordan Delaney captured first place in both the Girls 3200 Meter Run (11.43.72) and the Girls 1600 Meter Run (5:22.92), while Ritz took third in the 400 Meter Dash (1:00.70) and second in the Girls 800 Meter Run (2.22.89).
The Girls 4×400 Meter Relay team of Sofia Herrick, Mandi Theodoro, Rachel Arbogast, and Bri Ritz took third place at the state tournament with a time of 4.25.60.
Mandi Theodoro captured third in the pole volt (9-00).
Other Wetzel County Schools also had respectable finishes at the state championship. The Valley High School’s boys track team finished 9th in Class A championship, while the Blue Eagles’ boys team finished 10th. Paden City High School’s girls track team finished 23rd.
