New Martinsville Police Chief Tim Cecil confirmed that Jason Andrew Young, 33 and Tara Rose Quinn, 20 were arrested after leading law enforcement on a chase up American Ridge early Tuesday morning.

Cecil stated that the chase began around approximately 1:30 a.m. on May 17 when Patrolman Cody Elliot came upon a vehicle on Route 2 with expired registration. Elliot attempted to execute a traffic stop; however Young continued driving, leading officers on a chase.

Cecil said the vehicle ended up stalling and shutting down on American Ridge.

A search of the vehicle yielded a small amount of meth and a meth pipe.

Both Young and Quinn were taken into custody. Young’s charges include driving under a license revoked for DUI, expired registration, fleeing in vehicle, and simple possession.

Tara Rose Quinn

Quinn was charged with simple possession.

Cecil credits Patrolman Elliot for his quick action and also noted the excellent teamwork among law enforcement officers. Those who assisted included Deputy Mike Neff of the Wetzel County Sheriff’s Office, Sergeant Don Larsen of New Martinsville Police Department, and Chief Cecil himself.
