Public Library Still Going Strong at 70

By Staff | May 4, 2016

New Martinsville Public Library cordially invites the public to be present at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 6 for its ribbon cutting ceremony, “Strong at Seventy” in observance of the library’s 70th year of continuous library service to the residents of the community. The opening will occur the entrance of the library on 160 Washington Street.

The public of all ages is welcome to join us for our opening that day. The NMPL will launch balloons, blow bubbles with Danny Westfall and the Bubble Wagon, and enjoy cupcakes.

During NMPL’s 70 years of service, libraries have seen many changes and like other public libraries, NMPL continues to remain strong in its commitment of service to the community.

In 2016, NMPL has ebooks, computers, wireless internet, fax service, online card catalog, online informational databases and downloadable magazines. And of course, NMPL still has books, storytimes for pre-schoolers and summer reading programs.

Come by NMPL, located at 160 Washington Street, this week and wish the library a “Happy 70th Birthday.”
