NEW?MARTINSVILLE?- The second annual Wetzel County Schools’ Art Show will be held Sunday, April 3 through Thursday, April 7. Set up for the show will occur April 1-2. The show will again take place at First Christian Church’s Disciples Center, located on Maple Avenue.

Wetzel County resident Fawn Price, who helped to organize the first show, stated that this year the show will stay during the evening for a couple of days to allow area residents to stop by after work or school.

Price said Matt Kinnard, art teacher at Paden City High School, is looking to additional individuals and businesses who wish to help sponsor the show.

“We want to kick things up a notch and offer some actual monetary prizes for the winning schools,” Price noted.

Additionally, the art show might offer a bidding process for students who wish to auction their art work. Price said a student, who chooses to auction his or her work, will have a bidding sheet in front of the artwork. Money from the winning bid will be split between to the student and his or her school’s art department.

It is anticipated that all four of the county’s high schools will be involved in the art show. However, an invitation has been extended to both Tyler Consolidated High School and John Marshall High School for students who wish to show their art. This artwork will not be entered into the contest though.
