Schools Pass Out More Than 200 Coats

By Staff | Dec 23, 2015

Wetzel County Schools was recently able to pass out more than 200 brand new winter coats to children at each of its eight county schools.

Director of Attendance, Student Services, and Safety, Todd Barcus informed the Wetzel County Board of Education at their Monday, Dec. 7 meeting that the school system was able to work with the non-profit agency, Operation Warm, on the project.

Barcus noted that the schools’ principals, secretaries, counselors, and teachers worked with him to be able to figure out how many coats each school needed, including information on sizes. Coats were delivered to the schools and ranged in sizes from 5/6 in child to adult large.

Barcus added that Beth Glow from the Wetzel County Center for Children and Families also supplied Wetzel County Schools with extra large coats, which were passed out to children in need throughout the county.

“It’s a nice thing for these kids to have new coats,” Barcus said, expressing appreciation to all who played a party in the endeavor.
